Ongoing Production Shutdown

On Monday, July 11th, employees arrived at work to find flooding across several rooms on the ground floor of our facility.   We only found the leaking pipe after being forced to cut into the drywall of the production area and then jackhammering into the production floor to access it.

As a result, production was halted, and a restoration crew was brought in to start the long process of finding all the damage.  And, if any of you have ever experienced water damage, you’ll know that water can go much further and farther than you can see by the obvious damage.

Once all of the damage was assessed, damaged drywall was removed and fans, air purifiers and dehumidifiers were installed throughout the facility, and oh the noise!  It took over a week to fully dry out the walls.

Luckily, we were able to start the repairs yesterday, July 25th.  The drywall is already half-installed, which is fantastic news!  However, it is a lengthy process that will require lots of patience on our end.

Once the repairs are finished, we are going to clean the facility top to bottom and ensure that it is not only up to building code, but also back to our strict food safety standards from disinfecting surfaces to testing air quality.

At this point, we believe we may be fully closed down to production until the end of August with fingers crossed that we can shorten that timeline if at all possible, without cutting any corners.

What does that mean for our customers?

Even if we get back up and running by September 1st, it will take time to build back up our inventory.  We will continue to fulfill orders as long as we have the inventory to do so.  I’m sure many of you have already seen the large, glaring SOLD OUT status on many of our products.  Every order will be fulfilled on a first come, first serve basis.  Once a product is sold out, it will no longer be accessible to purchase on the store, even if it was in your shopping cart.

We apologize for the inconvenience; we understand how stressful it can be to go without your safe snacks.

We will keep you updated as to any changes in the schedule.  For perhaps the first time in my life, I’m happy that the weather is forecasted to be hot (in the mid-thirties, or in the 90s for our American friends), the plaster and paint may dry faster!

In the meantime, due to the noise of the repairs, we’re reducing our office hours.  We will continue to be open Monday through Friday, but only from 9 to 12 PST.  This change will be effective as of tomorrow, July 27th until further notice.
